The care team at the AWO Erna David Senior Centre were brought up to date on the subject of fall prevention training with the G-WEG system. Together with our speaker Meggi Wiesemann, 19 care staff members learnt more about the various clinical pictures in geriatrics, orthopaedics and neurology and their effects on motor skills and mobility.
During this in-house training course, the team worked together to analyse the gait patterns of senior citizens and improve their own eye for movement. The 8 teaching units consisted equally of important theory and lots of practice. The challenge of accompanying senior citizens in their gait without taking away their balance was trained just as intensively as mobility training on the G-WAY in combination with dual-task exercises!
The training day shows that joint gait and fall prevention training as a team is important for everyone and that everyone can train equally with the residents in future. True to the motto: "Step by step to greater gait safety and fewer accidents involving falls!"
