People whose ability to walk is limited due to pre-existing conditions such as MS, Parkinson’s, stroke, etc., or following surgery on the musculoskeletal system, can now benefit from this fall prevention training.
The Villingendorf Social Association , together with the two rehabilitation sports trainers, Manuela Brudlo and Heike Moosmann, took a closer look at the G-WEG fall prevention program and, based on the rapid training successes they observed, decided to cover the costs of this “exercise equipment.”
A test group of residents at the senior living facility has been training with this system for several weeks and was able to present the progress they’ve already made to those in attendance at an informational event.
It was amazing to see the tremendous progress they were able to make in such a short time. In addition to the physical training itself, the exercises also focus on the mental aspect. Uncertainty in movement often stems from a fear of falling.
The more afraid one is of stumbling or falling, the more unsteady one’s gait becomes. People no longer dare to walk on uneven paths or climb stairs, and thus lose more and more of their mobility and quality of life.
Those in attendance also had the opportunity to walk on the G-WEG. Thanks to their trust in the instructors, they were able to try out different movement patterns. This support can help improve walking ability, balance, coordination, and—above all—confidence in one’s own abilities.
Gabriele Sauerland, who oversees the assisted living program in Villingendorf: “Our participants are absolutely thrilled about how quickly their walking ability has improved and the confidence they’ve regained in their movements!”
