Did you know that we developed our G-WEG system from outpatient stroke therapy? In rehabilitation sport after stroke, participants have been training with the G-WEG for years. Why? Because they improve their gait, their concentration, their word finding and much more.
The ability to concentrate on more than one task at a time diminishes after a stroke. Diverting attention to more than one task leads to deteriorated balance. The risk of falling increases 3-fold with a balance deficit or gait unsteadiness.
Dual-task training on the G-WEG challenges motor and cognitive skills simultaneously.
Stroke victims solve simple perception, memory and everyday tasks while walking. This trains attention skills and promotes the degree of automation of walking. The combination of walking and solving another task at the same time increases the walking speed and is clearly superior to simple walking training.
